What a difference a lake makes. After 3 very average tournaments, the Trophy Bassmasters finally hit the jackpot. The relief came in the form of Knox Lake. The club sent 21 anglers out for a 9 hour day and at the 3:30 weigh-in the results were impressive. There were 79 largemouth bass scored and released with a total weight of 138lbs 6oz. Eleven of the 21 anglers had a 5 fish limit with numerous other fish culled to produce the heavy weights. Earning the top honors was second year member Oliver Heldman. His 5 fish limit weighed 13lb 4oz and included 2 fish over 18" which crowded the 4lb mark. One of his lunkers weighed 3lb 15oz and garnered him big bass honors for the event. Second place went to Boyd Downey. He had 12lb 5oz in 5 fish while Vern Boecher’s best 5 fish weighed 11lb 10z for 3rd place. The club is hoping the success will continue as they travel to West Harbor and bountiful Lake Erie for their next outing.
