Buck Creek Bassmasters

About Us

Buck Creek Bassmaster's believes we have an outstanding club. We are very proud of our organization and its uniqueness in that we have only six members that participate regularly on our projects. We are one of the smallest chapters in Ohio.

As a club we not only fish competitively but also do such other activities as the litter control signs on the Mad River. We also have a annual youth derby that has been continuously run for twenty years now. In 1994 we began the Buck Creek Jr.Bassmasters to help our youth in the community to catch not only fish but to support conservation.

CLUB HISTORY

The club was founded in 1984. We are one of the smallest clubs affiliated with the Ohio BASS Federation Nation and B.A.S.S. But don’t let our size fool you. We do some fun and rewarding things that will be discussed later on.

WHAT ARE THE TOURNAMENTS LIKE, HOW MANY AND WHERE DO WE FISH?

We fish about 12 tournaments a year starting in May and ending in October. We have no entry fee other than the club dues, skunk fund and the optional 10-pound pot. We fish two-day tournaments so we only use six weekends in this time frame to get all our tournaments in. The wife’s really like that. The tournaments are run like most tournaments. We have a start and stop time and penalties for being late or bringing short fish to the scales. We practice catch and release. We follow all the rules adopted by the federation including all the safety rules. The tournaments are total weight, which is converted into points and sent to the federation. Currently we have no non-boaters in the club and everybody uses their own boat. But you can pair up if you desired and I should stress we would like to have some non-boater members. So if you like to bass fish but don’t have a boat do not let that stand in your way. If you have never fished competition this is a great way to start and to learn a lot about others anglers techniques. We fish all over Ohio. Lake Erie, Delaware Res., O’Shaugnessy Res., Indian Lake, Rocky Fork, Knox Lake the Ohio River and others. Fishing in the club will expand your experience on new water. At some tournaments we like to camp. It gives us a chance to relax around a campfire at night telling lies after a day on the water. Camping is less expensive but more fun. The tournaments are great fun and it’s the first step of a long process to the big Bass Masters Classic. But understand that there is no money in it. Unless you move up the chain. Its just good’ol bass fishing with a little healthy competition.

WHAT ELSE DOES THE CLUB DO?

As a federation affiliate we have some environmental and community responsibilities. We do an (adopt a highway) cleanup four times a year on a section of state route four by the CJ Brown Res. This usually takes less than two hours. As far as the community we hold an annual youth fishing derby. The derby is a load of fun. It puts large smiles on a lot of kid’s faces. It takes some work but it is well worth it. Every kid gets a prize to take home. The top winners in each age group receive trophies. It’s just a lot of fun. You have to really do it to understand what I mean. If membership increases we would like to do a youth team. So dads if you have kids that like to bass fish come join and get the family involved.

I HOPE TO HAVE SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN OUR CLUB. WE REALLY WANT SOME MORE GOOD MEMBERS. IF YOU’RE INTERESTED JUST CALL ONE OF THE NUMBERS ON THE PAMPHLET AND GET READY FOR SOME FUN. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO OWN A BOAT.
